The incredible beauty of our natural world, the bold line of a powerful abstract, or the subtle shimmer of light play can spark the imagination and passion of the artist and create an emotional response within the viewer that will forever create a bond between them. It is this connection which I strive to capture with my work.
I was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1958 and grew up with four siblings on a small farm just outside the city. My mother’s love of nature inspired me to see the beauty and detail all around me, and my father’s ingenuity taught me to visualize possibility in all things. My husband encourages me, my children inspire me, and my cats amuse me. Although I’ve always had various creative endeavours, all were abandoned when I decided to seriously pursue photography. Simply put, it completes me as a person.
Growing up, I often wished I had a talent for painting – but what I saw in my head never seemed to translate on to paper. I longed to be able to capture the ethereal light of an impressionist painting or the emotive impact of an abstract. Digital photography has provided a vehicle for me to express my lifelong love of art and to interpret the world around me in the way that I always wished to. My images connect me to the past, to the earth, and to the future. Each image is a possibility and a revelation. Each has its own voice. I hope they speak to you.
